By Prof. Juris Plonis, Baltic26 Chair and President of the Latvian Urological Association
Throughout the years, the Baltic meetings have become a powerhouse of innovation, education, and collaboration across the Baltic and European urological communities.
Set to take place in Riga, Latvia, from 22 to 23 May 2026, the 11th Baltic Meeting in conjunction with the EAU (Baltic26) is shaping up to be more than just a regional meeting. This year’s programme reflects the most important developments in contemporary urology, while offering a dynamic experience for all levels of expertise.
Baltic26’s focus
The scientific programme of Baltic26 is centred on minimally invasive, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as complication prevention and management.
The meeting will also focus on uro-oncology, including muscle-invasive bladder cancer, bladder-sparing strategies, and systemic treatment, alongside functional urology and chronic pelvic pain.
Ensuring a balance among technical innovation, evidence-based medicine, and patient-centred care, Baltic26 will also cover topics such as the role of artificial intelligence, patient information flow, and education in the modern digital environment.

Dr. T.M. Ribeiro De Oliveira (PT) guides participants during the Hands-on Training in Robotic Surgery.
A boot camp with a mission
For first-year residents, Baltic26 offers the in-demand European School of Urology (ESU) Urology Boot Camp. More than just an introductory activity, the boot camp also supports a standardised urological training across the region. The ESU Urology Boot Camp provides the opportunity to learn in a structured, skill-based training that sets a strong foundation for the years ahead.

The ESU Urology Boot Camp aims to strengthen competencies and boost confidence in skills.
Emerging talent
The meeting features the Young Urologists Competition, which is an excellent platform for promising urologists to present their work, gain visibility, and engage with international faculty. The competition is among the most anticipated features of Baltic26. It is a high-energy activity that showcases the talents and knowledge of up-and-coming urologists.

Dr. A. Rautio (EE) wins the Young Urologists Competition at Baltic25 for her research, “When PSMA doesn’t light up – Challenges in prostate cancer diagnosis & treatment”.
Built for connection
What makes Baltic26 truly stand out is its format. Compact yet rich. It is built for interaction. Whether it is a case-based debate, hands-on training, or an informal chat with international faculty, the meeting’s setup fosters real connection. Attendees, from curious residents to seasoned specialists, can expect more than lectures.
With its blend of technical proficiency, practical education, and a strong push toward innovation, Baltic26 is not just about the current urological care in the region, but where it is headed.
Come join us at Baltic26! We look forward to seeing you there!
