The 10th Baltic Meeting in Conjunction with the EAU (Baltic25) commenced a day early for a select few. On 29 May 2025 in Vilnius, Lithuania, seven participants attended the ESU Urology Boot Camp, which aimed to strengthen their competencies and boost their confidence in their skills.
Experts in the field, such as Dr. Peteris Vaganovs (LV), Dr. Tiago Manuel Ribeiro De Oliveira (PT), Dr. Daniel Oliveira Reis (PT), Dr. Rauno Okas (EE), Prof. Povilas Aniulis (LT), Dr. Mindaugas Jievaltas (LT), Dr. Gediminas Platkevicius (LT), and Dr. Andrius Gaizauskas (LT), provided urological fundamentals through hands-on activities.
The programme comprised practical training modules: laparoscopy, lower tract endoscopy, upper tract endoscopy, and transurethral resection (all on eight workstations), and andrology. To ensure immersion and familiarity, the boot camp’s format was conducted on a one-on-one basis: each tutor dedicated to a training procedure guided a participant at an allotted time.
The boot camp participants, who are first-year residents from Latvia and Lithuania, were as follows: Dr. Rokas Abaturovas (LT), Dr. Vladislavs Basalajs (VT), Dr. Milana Marija Toločkina (VT), Dr. Marija Škuļtecka (VT), Dr. Kipras Snarskis (LT), Dr. Sofija Strutinska (VT), and Dr. Gabriele Ubaite (LT).
About the boot camp
With its inception in Portugal in 2018, the ESU Urology Boot Camp has expanded to include countries such as Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, and Spain in 2024 as well. By 2025, the boot camp is expected to have trained 500 residents in total.
